Abstract: Willie starts the book as a little boy who goes to live with his aunt. He likes to make himself useful and enjoys receiving tasks to do; he is dutiful and obedient. The book tells of Willie maturing and learning more about himself and the world, and his good sense is used as an example of how to conduct oneself in a business setting. Some of the adults in the book seem more childish than Willie and their behavior has a direct effect on his life.
